THE SHINS!!!!
Just back from the Shins concert at Elysée Montmartre. Nice to see them in a venue that holds about 2000.
THEY ROCKED!!!! And sometimes everything was so beautiful I wept from joy. Couldn't help it. It was so hot in the club that two girls fainted. Their opening act, Viva Voce, rocked so hard I thought my head was going to split open. Anita Robinson is my new guitar hero! So nice to see a Guitar Goddess for a change. Before they went on stage, my friend, John, and I were talking when suddenly I was almost knocked over. I have sadly become used to this -- life in the big city and all -- but then the guy turned back immediately said, "Sorry!" It was Jesse Sandoval, the drummer of the Shins! He and James Mercer were running to the dressing area. And I said to John, "Hey, that's them!" like a dumbass. I screamed and clapped the entire time. Really the only way it could have been better would be if it had been longer. Honestly, I didn't notice the time go. I would have loved to hear every song from every album played live. It's not necessarily better just different and so, so, SO rockin'. I don't think I stopped jumping and dancing once. They said that they had busked in Paris during the day. I wish I could've seen that.
I am so high from the show! I wonder how long it will take me to calm down?
I figured out why I will never be Parisienne. I am way too enthusiastic and I refuse to hide it. That, and, as John pointed out, I have good manners.
This show is way up in my top ten of all time, and I have seen a few shows. If you have the chance to see the Shins live, buy tickets immediately.
